As the allowable limits of lead and other hazardous substances in childrens products decrease (down to 300 parts-per-million) per the CPSIA regulations; the CPSC has issued a report on the effectiveness of x-ray fluorescence (XRF) for measuring lead in paint.  This report will be reviewed by Application Specialists at QSX Instruments and we'll post details soon after; however, you may want to visit the CPSIA website to review the report for yourself.

XRF Analyzers have already been determined to effectively screen product as a secondary test and the CPSC utilizes Handheld XRF for the inspection of imported goods.  However, this report may offer details on how the CPSC views x-ray fluorescence as an approved testing method, etc.

More details will follow - or contact QSX Representatives to discuss further.
